Eaglehawk Dive Centre in looking for a casual instructor for the rest of the summer season. Our current summer instructor is leaving early due to family commitments, and we are looking for a person to fill this position for the rest of the season, from late February to after Easter (mid April). The position is casual – no salary – we pay per course or student – rates vary depending on the course or other activity.
We supply free accommodation, most food, free diving when not working and there is space on the boat, free use of diving gear if needed, and if necessary, limited access to a vehicle. It is important that everyone on staff is willing to pitch in and help out on a variety of jobs around the dive centre.
This position particularly suits someone interested in other outdoor sports, as we have excellent bushwalking, kayaking and surfing in the area. We also have a lot of wildlife in the area, with wallabies, bandicoots and other native animals grazing around the buildings at night.
Tasmania is a cold water destination – our maximum water temperature (Feb) is about 16 degC, and it will drop to about 11-12 degC by the middle of winter. Experience using either thick wetsuits (7mm 2 piece) or drysuits is an advantage.
Please note that the dive centre is in a very quiet area in the countryside with few nearby facilities, and there is very limited public transport, generally only 1 bus to and from Hobart per day.
If you are not an Australian national or have Australian residency, then a valid Australian visa is essential. Please note that we DO NOT sponsor visa applications.
A current drivers license valid for Australia is essential – experience with backing trailers is very advantageous. Please note that all our vehicles have manual gear boxes.
Your teaching status must be current, own insurance is essential.
